In February 1976, Dotty Travis and Eden Donohue opened Donohue & Travis at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. Dotty designed acrylic furniture, dhurrie rugs, and represented Alan Campbell fabrics. The pair also bought antiques and accessories to fill this first showroom. Eden Donohue left Atlanta in 1978, selling her share of the business to Joyce Irvin, and Travis & Company was created.
The showroom moved to its current location (Suite 128) in May of 1987, and became known as Travis-Irvin. More fabric lines were added and Travis-Irvin became well known for its fine French antiques. In 1993, Joyce Irvin retired and the business became Travis & Company again. The showroom has since expanded several times, and completed a major addition in 2006.
Travis & Company is one of the foremost showrooms in the Southeast, representing some of the finest fabric houses in the world, in addition to upholstered and acrylic furniture. Dotty Travis continues to travel to Europe several times per year, and has just opened a retail shop, Travis, filled with French antiques and accessories. |
